Chiffon Sails

Cut in beautiful cornflower blue satin chiffon, ‘Chiffon Sails’ is an unforgettable evening gown. Selected by Phillipa after an immediate love for its vibrancy, the fabric is guided by a design approach that allows it to move naturally.

A signature couture drape forms the defining feature of this couture eveningwear design. Each delicate fold is individually shaped and pinned by hand in the Phillipa Lepley Atelier, a meticulous process requiring hours of patience and extraordinary skill, to form a strong diagonal V that defines the silhouette.

The chiffon lifts into soft, billowing sails at the shoulders, held in place by cleverly concealed support and padding that allows the silhouette to stand proud and away from the body. The sails bring movement and presence, while offering elegant coverage over the arms. A crepe satin base sits beneath, revealed through a central split in the overlaid chiffon, contrasting matte and shine.
