Over the past 40 years, Phillipa Lepley has worked exclusively with the finest European fabrics – French lace, Italian duchess satin – yet for her anniversary collection, she turned closer to home, commissioning a silk brocade of exceptional quality from a historic British mill in Suffolk. Exclusively woven for the atelier, the fabric celebrates the heritage and craftsmanship that Phillipa is deeply passionate about preserving in the UK.

‘The Bramling Coat’ is cut as a full-length silhouette with a centre-front split, allowing the richly woven brocade to move effortlessly with the wearer. Its commanding form is defined by a military-esque shoulder line, sculpted sleeve head and sharp collar, with intricate internal structure within the shoulders to achieve the precise shape Phillipa envisioned. At the back, a proud pleat opens gently into a small train, while concealed zips at the centre front and sleeves introduce a modern, unexpected edge.

The silk brocade itself holds a particular magic: it can be woven bespoke in a multitude of colours, making the design a versatile couture piece equally suited to bridal or eveningwear. With its powerful silhouette and intricate fabric, ‘The Bramling Coat’ reflects Phillipa Lepley’s growing signature in couture outerwear.

Styled with an antique tiara by Humphrey Butler, shoes by Manolo Blahnik, and a hyacinth bouquet by Shane Connolly MBE.
